시민단체와 피해자들은 지난 15일 서울 종로구 소재 여전도회관 2층 대강당에서 ‘금융사기 없는 세상’ 창립식을 가졌다.

특히 ‘금융사기 없는 세상’은 주가조작ㆍ금융사기 사건을 담은 소식지를 발행키로 했다.

‘금융사기 없는 세상’ 집행위원장 이민석 변호사는 일련의 대규모 사기 사건에 정치권이 연관되는 것과 관련 심각한 우려를 나타냈다.

이 변호사는 “정치인들이 사람만 모여 있는 곳이면 어디든 가서 얼굴을 비추고 사진을 찍는데 정말 조심해야 한다”면서 “많은 투자사기 피해자들이 정치인에 대한 신뢰로 돈을 건넸다가 피해를 당했다”고 꼬집었다.

그는 “조희팔 사건에서도 경찰의 비호가 드러난바 있지만, IDS홀딩스 사건에서도 수사 검사가 김성훈(IDS홀딩스 대표) 등에게 수사정보를 받는 조건으로 검사실에서 외부와 접촉할 수 있게끔 편의를 봐준 사건이 문제되지 않았냐”면서 “이런 일들이 계속 발생하다 보니 피해자들로서는 정치권에 대한 의혹도 커져가는 것”이라고 목소리를 높였다.

이 변호사는 “은행이자에 비해서 월등히 높은 이율을 제시하면 사기를 의심해 봐야한다”면서 다단계 사기꾼들은 최소 월 1퍼센트에서 심지어는 월 30퍼센트의 이율을 보장하는데 사실이라면 이미 대기업들이 그 사업을 선점했을 것“이라고 힘줬다.

또 그는 “사업의 구체적인 내용을 밝히지 못하고 큰돈을 번다고 말한다면 반드시 관련 재무자료나 납세 자료를 확인해야 하고 만일 자료를 제시한다면 회계사나 국세청 등에 사실 여부의 확인도 병행해야 한다”고 말했다.

특히 이 변호사는 정치권과의 인맥을 과시하며 투자를 유도하는 곳은 사기를 의심해 봐야 한다고 강조했다.

그는 “최근에는 사기 혐의로 검찰 수사를 받고 있는 가상화폐 업체 대표가 윤석열 대통령의 사우디아라비아 국빈 방문에 ‘경제 사절단’으로 동행해 논란이었다”면서 “이런 경력이나 이력 등을 이용해 투자자들에게 신뢰를 얻어 투자를 유치하는 곳이 적지 않다”고 경고했다.
